General Rules
- The rules which apply to everything in character and out.
1) No Spamming - Spamming is when you intentionally make a post that goes off subject. Usually done through a desire to get attention, or otherwise put people down to make their own self esteem improve... it's stupid, and it will not be tolerated.
2) No Flaming or Trolling - Fighting amongst yourselves through pms is fine by us (the staff), but do not get your personal business caught within the public area of the site. I am not your mother, I am not going to resolve your issues for you. Keep it private or don't fight at all, that includes trying to start fights. Public fighting (out of character, that is) will not be tolerated.
3) No Powerplaying or Metagaming - We all play people of various skills and abilities on this site, there will be character-based egos and what not, but do not make that think you can win every battle or every scenario. Post your character's actions and what you want your subordinates to do, but please realize that the little things such as morale and whether or not your instructions actually succeed are not in your hands, but in the hands of staff and moderators. Please try and be somewhat realistic about this aspect. Due to the nature of warfare in Gears of War, a little bit of metagaming is allowed in a firefight to allow for more fluid posting, but note that you can't do something so drastic as to make an e soldier under the other player's control step out of cover and stand there just perfectly for your sniper to blow his head off.
4) Quality over Quantity - Contrary to popular belief, good roleplaying is not all about post length. In terms of writing roleplaying often involves such a small amount of actual details, noteworthy enough for a novel, that sometimes only 2 or so paragraphs may be needed. Write as much as you are comfortable with and try to focus on what you are trying to portray instead of getting dragged into the 'long post routine'.
5) Writing Tense - For purposes of neatness and ease of reading, please keep to a 3rd person tense while roleplaying with other people. For diaries, self analysis of characters and anything else along those lines, 1st and 2nd are completely open for use. Most people get headaches when trying to switch back and forth between tenses.
6) Loopholes - You may think you're clever when you spot a loophole in the rules, but don't expect us to think so. As staff we retain the right to stop anyone seen taking advantage of an error in these rules for their own personal gain. Instead if you see an error, or something we may have looked over, please let us know, rewards will be given to those who are honest. Nobody likes the jerk who exploits loopholes.
7) Site Demise - A roleplaying site always has ups and downs in activity and after its initial honeymoon period it'll either continue to grow or it will fall out of the sky in a big ball of smoke. Consider this site a large storyline with roleplaying elements and try to ignore the common suggestions of 'its dead' etc etc. In fact I don't want to see that term coined for this site at all. This story will have its ebbs and flows, so try to keep on board throughout if you can. With active individuals such a site can continue to grow.
8) The Cringeworthy One - It has to be said, but have fun beyond everything else. It's becoming a cliche in rules, but hell to it, try to enjoy yourself because you are the people we are trying to cater for. Any ideas, comments and anything else important please do feel free to contact one of the staff team. Politely, please.
